Super Hatch Concept Car

Jamie Martin is the genius designer behind the Cobra V8 concept car, as well as the new range of London busses. Jamie has now come up with a brand new car design he is calling the Super Hatchback concept or SHC for short.

This three door hatchback looks aggressive and futuristic from every angle with huge blown wheel arches that are filled with18 inch five spoke alloy wheels outlined with a hint of orange (a theme that runs the lines of the SHC). The entire top half of the car is black to include tinted windows in the same colour, the windows flow with the body work to make the lines appear fluid. However it’s not until you look at the front and rear of the car that you realize the racing thoroughbred the car possesses.

The front of the car incorporates two large air vents in the bumper which sit either side of an air dam that feeds air underneath the car to the rear diffuser. This technology is similar to a formula 1 racing car and is designed to produce more down force and when you combine the rear diffuser and double exhausts it also makes the back of the car look amazing.

SHC Rear DiffuserThe proposed concept car has a huge list of equipment and technology as standard. Jamie has proposed that the car will either have a six speed short shift or seven speed automatic gear box with paddle shift, it will also feature stop start technology and duel engines. The engine bay will contain and electric cell engine fed by strategically placed batteries (the car has perfect weight distribution) which are good for 70 miles before switching to petrol motor.

Performance will be achieved through three selectable modes, economy, normal and performance. The performance option will produce 272 BHP, a 0-60 time of 5.6 seconds and an impressive top speed of 167 MPH. You might expect that a car with this much technology would be extremely expensive, granted the £27,000 price tag is more than your run of the mill hot hatch but as you can see the super hatch concept is not your run of the mill hatch – this car is unique and will be a lot more exclusive.

Other notable specifications include ‘air stream’ technology that eradicates the need for windscreen wipers, concealed door handles, LED lighting and a 35% aluminium body.

The super hatch concept looks to be a practical run around with true race engineering. It blends formula 1 technology with functional features that will allow you to use the car on a day by day basis and still have rapid pace off the line. The super hatch concept could be in a showroom near you in 2014.

If you are interested in more pictures or information on the Super hatch concept take a look at the animated video, it shows the car from all angles and really shows off the car. We really hope this goes in to production.
