BMW 1 Series M Sport Coupe 2011 News
Do you fancy a baby M3 with blistering pace for £40,000? BMW are preparing to launch the 1 series M Coupe with a possible release date of June 2011. No official data or specs are available from BMW yet but much speculation is spreading across the internet like wildfire.
Is it an M1?
If you are getting all giddy about owning an M badged car reign in your excitement now as the new car will actually be called the 1 Series M Coupe. This is due to the historical links with the term M1 in Munich.
The new car is expected to have the same straight six turbo used in the Z4M. This should result in a 0-60 time of around 4.5 seconds, expect the engine to turn out around 340bhp and be limited to 155 (as is the norm with German pocket rockets like this).
M sport upgrades
The new 1 series M sport coupe will have some significant upgrades to set it apart from the standard 1 series. These upgrades will include an up rated interior which will likely feature sports seats, steering wheel and of course dials and trinkets. The exterior of the car looks like it has been beefed up with wider bumpers, larger wheels and is likely to have a sportier exhaust system.
Subtle upgrades include the wider and slicker wheels, larger cross drilled breaks and upgraded suspension which should result in a proper M car handling. The M coupe will cost £13000 less than an M3, some may see this as a bargain and some may not. What do you think?
