Astra Sport Hatch 2011 Three Door to Launch At Paris Motor Show
The new three door Astra sports hatch has gone all high brow with a new theme inspired by the famous philosopher Jonathan Livingston Seagull. Vauxhall has announced that the new three door Astra will be unveiled in October at the Paris motor show with styling described as ‘dramatic and sculptural’.
Designers have gone high tech by laser etching the phrase ‘And the speed was pure beauty’ into the leather upholstered front seats. The line was taken from Seagull’s book and reflects the manufactures desire to make the new Astra even more desirable than the last car.
The road going production car will not actually be available until late 2011 with some industry experts pencilling in a launch date as late as 2012. Vauxhall did a similar thing with the current MK5 car; the Mk5 5door went on sale with the three door sport hatch arriving two years later. The current three door sports hatch and VXR is still one of the best selling cars in Vauxhalls range so the new car will be eagerly awaited by many drivers.
The current VXR delivers an eye watering 240 BHP and many experts expect the new version to take on the Ford focus RS which offers 300 BHP.
